IRCEMS
was established by the Board of County Commissioners to provide
pre-hospital emergency care to residents and visitors of Indian
River County. IRCEMS provides services 24 hours a day 7 days
a week. These units respond to over 17,500 calls for assistance
each year. Eleven IRCEMS ambulances are staffed with two fully
trained state certified paramedics. These paramedics have specialized
training in Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac
Life Support, 12 Lead EKG Recognition, Pre-Hospital Trauma Life
Support, Basic Cardiac Life Support, Hazardous Materials and
Confined Space Rescue. This training allows for paramedics to
respond to and treat all life threatening conditions.
IRCEMS
is committed to providing the highest level of care to the residents
and visitors of Indian River County. Understanding the medical
profession is a constantly evolving field; It is our goal to
remain on the cutting edge of emergency medicine. This goal
is achieved by continuous interaction with the public we serve.
We also realize the importance of public trust; therefore we
constantly strive to build on that trust by daily interaction
with the community at large, demonstrating a courteous, compassionate

What
to do if an Emergency Vehicle is behind you.
When you notice an Emergency Vehicle approaching you from
behind with lights and sirens, slow down and pull to the side
of the road after making sure all traffic is clear. If you are
at a red light, use extreme caution before proceeding as the
traffic that has the green light has the right of way, try to
turn right only do not pull through the intersection. |
