The beautiful State of Florida is blessed with 2 oceans, and hundreds of rivers and lakes. Because of this, thousands of people enjoy water sports and recreation inland and off shore. Therefore the need for Fire Rescue, Dive Rescue, and Search and Rescue is always increasing in our community. To fulfill this need, Indian River County Fire Rescue has two marine vessels for rescue and firefighting use. Marine 21 and Marine 22. Marine 21 is a 25 foot Boston Whaler used for Dive Rescue and fireboat. Marine 22 is a 3-meter RIB (rigid inflatable boat) and is beach launch capable. Both boats carry a team of 2-3 firefighters and can perform fire fighting as well as Dive Rescue or Search and Rescue missions.
Each year it is important to perform multi-agency training with (Fire Rescue, Coast Guard, Sheriff, and Police) to coordinate, and perfect our Water Rescue techniques. This years training exercise was a great success. The Fire Rescue Training Division, thanks all people and agency's involved in this years training exercise.
